Homestead Part 2
As an update to yesterday’s post, here’s the color version of the same composition I converted to B&W and posted yesterday. Check out how neatly manicured and well kept these grounds are! Amazing and envious (my personal preferences)…

Homestead
On my travels and searches for barns here along the Front Range near me, I came across this neatly manicured farm and snow white barn sitting on the corner of County Road 7 and East State Highway 56. No one was home and it looked like they had all left for the winter, yet the yard/landscape was extremely neat and clean. No dead fallen leaves, no cow pies in the yard, nothing. Just a beautiful setting on the corner.
This little barn set about 30 years to the south of the main house is not as old as the others I found during this trip, but the setting was so pristine that I loved the compositions, colors and textures. And then I converted this one image to B&W and loved it too. What do you think? Do you want to see the original color version too?

Weld County Barn
Now stop before you even start with the “too cartoonish” or “over HDR’d” right here, right now. :)
I went out barn-hunting this past Sunday afternoon, following some good recommendations to “drive north” on County Road 7 here in Weld County. And WOW, there are quite a few amazing barns along this route.
This image just looked so very cool as soon as I opened all three bracketed images in Photomatix Pro 5, I just clicked save, as is, no further processing. I used to generate images like this using my iPhone and very, VERY cool app called #Painteruesque. I didn’t know this could be done in HDR software.
Yes, the HDR effect is over the top, but the lighting, colors, texture, composition, EVERYTHING about this image I like. So put aside your feelings about HDR imagery and just look at this image. Tell me what you think about the image and not just that you despise this amount of HDR processing. (It really wasn’t that much HDR post-processing at all)
For those of you interested in how this image appears when run through my “normal workflow” (aka, non-HDR workflow) here’s the 0EV image processed in LR4 with a touch of #NikCollection’s #ColorEfexPro:
One thing I love to do with select HDR images is to run them through #NikCollection’s #SilverEfexPro. Here’s what I got with a slightly different composition of the top image:
And as eDDie mentioned when I posted this article onto Facebook, here’s the barn across the street (to the left from the composition above), but only from straight on. This too was the RAW image processed in #Lightroom4 and #NikCollection’s #ColorEfecPro:
