Surf and Sunset
Here are a few more images from my stay at the Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara last September. I had a few sunsets to myself and I’d wonder on down to the shore looking for these types of compositions, especially with the 10-24 wide angle lens I had rented for the launch event.

It was a very peaceful excursion, although I got kind of worried as the tide was rolling in and every 4-5 wave would crash a little closer to my gear.

Fetcher Barn Black and White
This image was captured during our recent camping trip to Steamboat Lake State Campground back in August. I really liked how the clouds and barn came out in this black and white version. This image was a 5-shot HDR, merged in Photomatix and then taken in to Silver Efex Pro for the BW conversion. Love these tools!

Tranquility
Another image from the Bacara Spa and Resort of the Pacific Ocean and the setting sun. After running around all day doing my event photography for DigitalGlobe, it was so peaceful and tranquil to walk along to surf and make long-exposure photographs of the waves softly crashing on these rocks. Have you ever heard the tumbling rocks under the surf as the waves roll back out to sea? That’s got to be one of my top 5 sounds in the world. Amazing and so relaxing to listen and to photograph this area.
