Kebler Pass HDR

I know, it’s been awhile since my last post here, but things have been really busy! That’s both good and bad, but part of the business was spent photographing my favorite time of the year! So…

My family and I spent the weekend in a great, secluded cabin about an hour southwest of Gunnison, Colorado about two weeks ago now, with some very good friends. And I figured that since I was that close to Crested Butte, Kebler Pass and Ohio Creek Road, I just had to break away and go see what they’re up to this fine fall-colored time of the year! ;)

Arriving at Kebler Pass, we found the Aspens about 2 weeks away from peaking in their golden glory, but we did arrive at a beautiful sunset over the area! So, no epic Aspen gold, but nevertheless, Colorado beauty! Seeing the contrasty situation up on this ridge line, I shot most of the 15 minutes in HDR-mode: three shots, -2EV, 0EV, +2EV and combined them in Photoshop CS5 or Photomatix Pro (I am feeling the need to purchase Photomatix Pro 4.1 now! Got any good discount codes for me?)

Here’s one HDR image from that trip, processed in Photomatix Pro.

Sunflower Daydreams

When August rolls around, and the dog-days of summer are upon us, my thoughts turn towards Sunflowers. Next to Tulips (in May) and Columbines (in July), these are my favorite flowers.

Are there any Colorado #photogs here that have leads on Sunflower fields in the northern Colorado area? Anyone interested in hunting for them?

Columbine – B/W

Here’s a quick post on an image I took this past Saturday up in the White RIver National Forest — basically the area to the north of Vail, Colorado.
